Nintendo is bringing the classic Pokemon games from the Game Boy era to the Nintendo 3DS as digital downloads. Starting February 27th, users can purchase Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow through the 3DS Virtual Console.

The releases will remain largely faithful to the original 1996 versions. However, there is one key addition: players can now use the handheld's built-in wireless capabilities to trade Pokemon with friends. This update removes the need for the physical Game Boy link cable previously required for multiplayer trading.

This announcement targets players who may find modern Pokemon titles too complicated while offering nostalgia for long-time fans.
