CNET’s folding test pushes the iPhone Duo to extreme use. After more than 139,000 folds, the crease is still visible when the display is off. When the display is on, the crease is harder to see. Apple’s nano-texture matte display helps disguise the crease by reducing reflections. The matte layer can be removed, and some users who peeled it off report the crease appears more visible without it. Apple offers a service to replace the matte layer for $19 with AppleCare and $49 without the program. The folding tests continue with daily livestreams on CNET’s YouTube channel to monitor how long the device can keep folding.
