Rian Johnson has released Chromagraph Camera, a photography app for iPhone that mirrors the color science used in his Knives Out films. The app was developed in partnership with cinematographer Steven Yedlin and programmer Eric Cameron. It shoots in RAW and applies Yedlin’s processing directly to the RAW data, rather than layering a filter on a preview image. Users can fine‑tune color, exposure, grain, and halation, and export results to their camera roll. The app does not provide access to completely unprocessed RAW files for editing, and it currently supports only still photography, with the potential for video in a future Pro model update. Chromagraph Camera is not available on Android. Johnson notes the goal was to give iPhone photographers a single, elegant tool that produces images with the look from his films while preserving core realism. Some photographers may prefer more extensive manual controls found on traditional cameras, but Chromagraph Camera offers a filmic look with simpler adjustments.
